Mr Reynolds, during his , trip to the north, leased the old Auckland Melanesian Mission Station, buildings and grounds, for carrying out the provisions of the IS aval Training Schools Act. He has purchased the . schooner Southern Cross, and will have her brig rigged, so that boys may learn to work square rigged vessels. He has appointed Lieutenant G-. B. Breton, R.N:, to be manager of the Kohunarani school, but preliminary organisation of the school is left to Commander Falley, R.N., wellknown in connection with the Melanesian Mission. A boatswain or instructor will also bo appointed, together with a schoolmaster and a gardener. A start will be made with twenty boys from industrial schools, who have not been convicted of any crime. AUCKLAND. November 26. The Governor lias received instructions by the Mikado that he must not be in New Zealand when the Marquis of Normauby arrives. As Sir James intends proceeding to Sydney in the Hero which brings out the new Governor, the position is awkward. Probably he will go for a cruise in his yacht till after the new Governor is sworn in. The Mikado sails at 7 o'clock. The Cyphrenes with inward mail is expected to arrive at Auckland in a fortnight hen"e. A child, an Hydaspes immigrant, lias been seized with scarlet fever, and this is likely to cause detention ot immigrants at quarantine station considerably longer. 8 p.m. The Governor has determined to go home via San Francisco, and has j detained the Mikado until to-morrow at ten in the morning for that purpose.
