The coining of new Avords, says the Otago Daily Times, goes on apace. Wo have billiard players who are called "billiardists." Pedestrians are occasionally playfully alluded to as " ruuuists " and " walkists ;" and now an up-country paper alludes to the squatters as " sheepists," and congratulates them upon having got so many sheep from the high ground to the well-sheltered gullies during the late bad weather. The following are the prices of meat quoted in Wellington : Beef, 7d to 8d ; mutton, 4d to 6d ; and 3d to 4d for inferior joints. The Wellington correspondent of the Otago Daily Times writes as follows : Mr Travers, who is to draft the Constitution Bill, after making a tour of the road districts of the colony, will probably start next month, so as to get the work over before he takes up the Attorney-Generalship. A miserly settler at Hamilton (Waikato), whose wife was on her death bed, refused to pay the travelling expenses of his son whom the dying mother wished to see. After the woman died he bought a packing case, nailed a bit of black cloth on it, on which he chalked her name, and thus she was buried.
