MINING ITEMS.

[iN-AJraAJIUA. IIEKALD.J A crushing of 27 tons of stone, taken from the shaft of the Ajax mine, has yielded upwards of 2ozs. per ton. Tenders are invited by the Italian Gully Gold Mining Company, for driving 50 feet of an extension tunnel; At a meeting of the shareholders of the Larry's Creek Q-old Mining Company, (No. 1 North), it was decided to continue the employment of the hands engaged sinking the shaft at the increased rate of £i per week, as the'men refused to work at a lower rate. The prospects of ; the No. 2 South Larry's Gold Mining Company continue most encouraging. Within the last few days exceptionally rich stone has been brought to grass' from the north and south stopes. The erection of the machinery is now nearly completed, and it is anticipated that crush ing operations will begin early during the ensuing week. [cOUKIEIt.] Since the reef was intersected in the Anderson-invincible tunnel, the boJy of stone has been crossed, and driven on for a considerable distance, averaging full 4ft. in thickness, and there is not the slightest doubt as to it bein"of a superior quality to the stone hitherto brought to the mill. In the Wealth of Nations claim, several landslips have retarded general work, and only ten heads of stampers have been working of late. The damage to the race is now being rapidly repaired. In the Golden Ledge a splendid! piece of stone nearly ten feet thick andofan excellent quality is bein" taken out from the lower leyel lately opened in this company's mine and it is anticipated that the next crushing will yield as* much as those hitherto. Twenty-live tons of stono have been raised from the Ajax shaft, and havo recently been crushed, giving a splendid yield of nearly two oz to tho ton. The work of opening out a level of 120 feet has been commenced.

■ . —_—., This machinery is now standing idle, but will shortly commence to crush for the Golden Fleece, 0 In the Energetic work is still being pushed vigorously onward, but the slips on the coal tramway have caused some delay. v
