[Auglo-Australian Tress Telegraph Agency] CHARLESTON. May 14. At 7-30 last evening a very largo and beautiful meteor passed oyer the township. It made its appearance from the south-cast of zenith, and travelled with great velocity, being visible only about twenty seconds. The meteor was comet shaped, and left but little trail. It exhibited all the colors of tho rainbow, and eventually burst over the sea, exactly in the same manner as a congrevo rocket.. The light was so glaring that a momentary panic existed, many thinking that a fire had broken out. The effects were as visible as in broad daylight. WELLINGTON. May 1.3. An adverse motion to Provincial Government was lost last night by three votes. AUCKLAND. May 14. Tho Blanche loaves on a cruise for tho north s'lortly. Tho Macgregor was to leave Kandavau the clay after tho Mongol. Fears are entertained that she has encountered some gales. The Tartar on first outward voyage grounded on a coral reef off Yassowas, but got over safely.
