AUCKLAND. May 13. The steamship Wonga Wonga has arrived here, bringing lato cablegrams. LONDON. April 27. The Suez canal difficulty has been settled by submission of Baron De Lesscps. It is probable that the several powers will consider the question of the toll dues. BOMBAY. May -1. Serious riots at Shanghai. The French settlement, stores, and houses have been burned and sacked. English settlements have not been molested. Several rioters were shot. Sailors and Volunteers who wero called out quelled the disturbance. The riot was caused through interference with some Ningpo graves during construction of road. lIOKITIKA. May 11. The steamship Claud Hamilton arrived here yesterday. She left- Melbourne on the 7th, and bringing later English news, but no Australian news later than that by the Wonga Wonga. LOKDOiW May 5. -In the House of Lords, Earl liussell questioned the Government as to the prospect of maintenance of peace. Lord Derby forensically said that looking at the embittered feeling between France and Germany, there were many grounds for apprehension, but he saw no immediate danger. In the House of Commons the questisn of a protectorate of the Gold Coast was debated. Lord Lowthcr said that the Government was anxiously considering the matter and had consulted officers who had recent experience there. A definite policv would be shortly declared. A strike of twenty thousand colliers at Durham lias been made against reducing wages. May G. Marshall Serrano and General Concho entered Bilboa on Saturday, and there were great rejoicings inconsequence. The Carlists are now dispersing through Guipeppoa. A military levy of all Spaniards over nineteen years of ago has been made. ■ ■&
