[from herald.] Andersons.—The last crushing yielded 300 ozs of gold. Tho battery will now bo shifted from its present position. The contract for driving the last section (170 feet) of the Ander-son-Invincible tunnel has been commenced, and the now entrance to the tunnel is now beiog opened.

"Wealth of Nations.—The driving in the low tunnel has been exceptionally hard for weeks past, but a slight change for the better has been experienced . Eneiigetic.—The work of laying the foundation for the new machine site, and also on thecoal tramway is still progressing favorably. Band oe Hope.—The battery and machine-house is now being taken down, and under the superintendance of Mr M' G-resor who has been in charge of the Westland battery, the new machinery will bo erected. United Band of Hope.—Timber is now being procured for securing 100 feet of unsafe ground in the tunnel, Inglewood.—4o tons of stone in machine-paddock, and GO tons more waiting conveyance.

PiEnr Ckoss.—Works are now progressing satisfactorily. The further the reef is being opened out on in depth there is improvement both in the quality and quantity of the stone ; and tho works clone in this claim should encourage the shareholders in those adjacent to have proved tho existence of a permanent reef at a lower level. Just in Time. —Good stone has been found all the distance in the 70 feet tunnel, but the main reef has not yet been reached. A cross drive has been put in 40 feet following flat leaders ; and for the purpose of intercepting this reef the hill is being pierced at a level 120 feet lower by another tunnel, which is now in to a distance of 250 feet. Owing to the soft nature of the ground, the work of driving has been proceeded with in a very rapid manner.

El Dorado. —The reef in this claim has now been thoroitghly intersected, and is from five to six feet wide, showing very good gold. Two contracts, one for building a tramway five chains in length, and one for driving along the reef 50 feet, have been both let to one party, and work is to be commenced immediately. AValhalta. —Tunnel work in this claim will be continued until crossing the supposed line of the Fiery Cross reef. No. 2 South Larry's—The machine company are at present making capital progress. The whole frame of the water-wheel is erected; the shaft and centres arc placed all ready for rising the wheel, which will be completed in about three weeks. Three waggon loads of machinery have been brought up, and the remainder is daily expected to arrived from Nelson by the Kennedy. The contractors have had a great deal of difficulty to contend with in bringing machinery up from the foot of the creek. In the mine the shaft is clown 2G feet. [FROM LYELL ARGUS.] Messrs Leslie and Stuart report:— No movement in shares has taken place during the past week. Quotations of non-dividend paying claims are slightly in favor of buyers. Break O'Day's are held firm at 15s. Through the temporary stoppage of Messrs Carroll and Cairns battery, the Maruia Company cleaned up before they had put through two-thirds of the stone ready for crushing. The result is that 230 tons has yielded 917 ounces of melted gold, or equal to 4oz. 2dwt. Sgrs. per ton, which must be highly satisfactory to the shareholders, as it enables the Directors to declare a dividend of £lls per 2000 scrip, after paying all expenses and liabilities.
