BULLER ROAD.

[from our own correspondent.] The cargo boats belonging to Messrs Croawcll and White arrived at the loangab.ua Junction on Saturday, the 25th instant, having been detained on the upward voyage six days, owing to the flooded state of the river. The boat crews had to camp, the lady passengers, numbering five, had also to go under canvass, and speak in high terms of the kindness shown them by the Skippers and the boats' crews during their compulsory encampment. The Bachelder troupe were detained j at Christy's three days, waiting the arrival of a boat t; convey them to j Westportj I

The road works between Christy's and Hnghie's are being pushed on rapidly, the contractors having put on a great number of wages-men, who are now working vigorously. Sections No. 1 and 2 are nearly formed, as also the greater portion of No. 3. The con« tractors will commence gravelling the above three sections next week, aud if weather permits expects to finish within contract time. The road around the Obiki hill will be finished in about a fortnight, which is none too soon, as the old track over the hill is all but impassable. These works have been pushed on well, considering that it has been necessary to do the work twice over in some instances where largo slips have taken place. The men on the works are a very orderly lot of fellows, with few exceptions. Occasional displays of the art of selfdefence relievo the monotony of their spare hours, but the presence of the " force" is not necessary. The combatants end amicably in a whiskeyingup and arc them better friends thau ever.
