BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The usual fortnightly meeting of the Council was held on Wednesday evening. Present, the Mayor, and Crs.

Suisted, Blacklock, Whyte, Stitt, Shoahan and Munson. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. COEIU2SPOXEEXCE. From the Provincial Secretary, enclosing Provincial Solicitor's opinion relative to right to vote for election of members of the Local Revenues Board. Received, and ordered to be acknowledged. Prom Mr D. M'Leod, making application for 3 sections in lieu of sections 177-8-9, corner of Wharf and Pikington streets, now in danger of being destroyed by rivec encroachment, and asking that sections 196, 197 and 192, Bentlnun and Adderley street, should be allotted iu lieu thereof. From Andrew Josephson, asking for the aliottment of a section in lieu of lS T o. 158, Pakington street, on which the river had encroached to within thirty feet. Ecferred to Sections Committee.

ACCOUNT. A n account from Messrs Roid & Co. for advertising and printing, under contract, £2B 13s Gd, was presented. Proposed by O. Wliyto, seconded by Cr. Stitt, and carried, that £l7 be paid on account. BATES. Proposed by Or. Whytc, seconded by Cr. Munson, and carried, " That the Town Clerk be instructed to sue for all unpaid rates. MEMORIAL. A memorial from Mr George Clark and other ratepayers, calling attention to the imperfect and insufficient means of draining Pahnorston street, and requesting that steps be taken to remedy the evil, was presented. On the motion of Cr. Suisted, seconded by Cr. Wliyte, the memorial was referred to the Public Works Committee with power to act. The meeting was then adjourned for fourteen days.
