[PHOM BEEFTON AND LTEH PAPERS.] At New Creek the Maiden Cityparty have found their reef increasing in sizo from a foot to sixteen inches where they are now putting in a tunuel, and it has been traced along the surface almost from peg to peg," allowing more or less gold tkrough-
out. The Tichborne are also driving along the reef, which presents the same indications aa in the Maiden City. Near the Tamhoroora claim fine nuggeta, not in the least water worn, aro being constantly found by men working in alluvial ground. With the view of discovering the source of these specimens the company have put on two men who are clearing away the stones and other rubbish prior to bringing in a race for the purpose of sluicing away the bank. The new proprietors of the Excelsior have let a contract for driving a tunnel 50 feet below the level of the bottom of the underlay shaft, from which the 4-oz stone was recently procured, at which place the reef is 3 feet thick, and well defiued. The new tunnel is to be driven 250 feet, within which distance the reef is certain to be intercepted. In O'Brien andßlairs " Great Wonder" claim stone is now being blocked out for another crushing. A new tunnel has been started in the William Tell to intercept a leader recently discovered on the surface about 700 feet above the level of the main tunnel. The Monte Christo and Lyell Creek Companies' are steadily pushing on their low level tunnels. The Maruia expects to crush 500 tons in Messrs Carroll & Cairn's machine. In the Break a' Day sixteen men are at work blocking out from both levels. Two men are also working at the new leader, 400 feet to the westward of the present workings. The stone contains good gold and the loader is from 3 to 4 inches thick. The underlay is considei-ably greater than at the other leader. In Maloney's blocking out is still proceeding and the company expect to have 200 tons ready for crushing by the time the Maruia Co finish using the machine. The stone is estimated to go from four ounces to four ounces and a half per ton. A call of £l2 per share has been made in the Argyle Company No 1, South, Larry's Creek ; and a call of two pence per share in the Rainy Creek Co. The reef has again been intercepted in the main level of the Just-in-Time mine in the second cross-cut, 100 feet south of the winze, and is of average richness. In Anderson's the various works are being executed with the usual celerity.
