TI A CAB T. JE . LONDON DATES TO THE 10th MARCH. BLUFF. March IS. The Otago arrived this morning, bringing English news to to the 10th instant. LONDON. March 5. Parliament opens to-day. The professions of peace made by the King of Ashantee are purely treacherous. The enemy has offered greater resistance than was believed possible. The king is now a prisoner. Comassie has been captured and burned. March 7. Competition is well maintained in the wool market; but for faulty descriptions lower rates rule. Wheat is firmer. New Zealand flax slightly advanced. March 9. At a meeting of the late Cabinet, Gladstone declined to undertake the leadership of the Liberal party in the House of Commons. March 10. A heavy fall in the price of coal in manufacturing districts and reduction in wages has commenced. General Wolsely states that the Ashantee King has sent a thousand ounces of gold as first instalment of indemnity.
