MASONIC BANQUET.

The brethren of tlio Thistle Lodge of Westpovr, No. 433, 8.C., entertained Bro. David Barrio at a banquet ou Tuesday evening at the Empire Hotel. The Chair was occupied bv Bro. J. W. Humphrey, It.W.M., and" Bro. J.Mudro, S.W., discharged the duty of Vice.

The catering of Host Hughes was everything that could be desired, and the very numerous and enthusiastic gathering of the members of the fraternity at Westport, did ample justice to tho banquet and the occasion.

After the usual loyal and Masonic toasts had been disposed of, the Chairman in his happiest manner proposed the toast of the evening—Bro. Barrio. The expressions of kindly good wishes to Bro. Barrie on the occasion of his intended visit to Scotland were appropriately discoursed by the Chairman, whoso sentiments were fully endorsed by the assembled brethren, the toast being drank enthusiastically and with musical honors.

Bro. Barrie in responding to the compliment of the brethrcu present acknowledged his attachment to the Thistle Lodge of Westport as his mother Lodge, and expressed the deep interest he had always felt and would ever feel in everything which contributed to her welfare.

" Sister Lodges " was humorously proposed by Bro. Thorpe, and suitably responded to by Bro. Pizzey, from Ilokitika.

"The Poor• and Distressed," and " Absent Brethren " were severally pledged in the usual Masonic mauncr. " The Thistle Lodge of Westport," proposed by Bro. Barrie, was gracefully acknowledged by Bro.W. D.Kerr, J.W", " The Ladies " were not forgotten bv Bro. Suisted, who in the most chivalrous manner demanded a bumper to their honor.

Mr Fisher replied in his goodnatured, frank, and affectionate style, and his efforts to represent the ladies were certainly deserving their highest admiration.

A rather numerous list of toasts, including " The Host," " Chairman," &C., were duly given and responded to with equal warmth and liberality. _ The musical part of the programme, aided by the efforts of each and all to add to the enjoyment of the occasion, were certainly attended with the most complete success. Indeed the Masonic reunion of lastovcuing was undoubtedly one of the most pleasing as well as the most successful which has taken plr.ee at Westport for some tiuio past.
