Mr Curtis addressed the electors at Cobden on Thursday last. The meeting was crowded. After a long and very strong cross-fire of questions, a vote of confidence in Mr Curtis, as Superintendent of the Province, was moved by Mr Peyman, and seconded by Mr Wallace. Mr Glennon moved as an amendment:—" That after the last seven years experience of the Curtis administration, it is the opinion of this meeting that it would be a great calamity

to the Province of Nelson if again returned as its Superintendent." Mr C. Brown seconded the amendment. The amendment was put and negatived, there voting for it 17, and against it 27. The motion was carried amidst much cheering. By the courtesy of Mr Shrimpton, acting Postmaster, we are enabled to publish the following information as to mails : —For the "United Kingdom, Continent of Europe (via Suez and Brindisi), also India, China, the Australian Colonies, mails will be despatched per Kennedy to-day, via Nelson, and to Hokitika as opportunity offers to catch the Albion, leaving on Thursday next, 27th inst.
