Crowded out until next issue, local, shipping, general matter, and correspondence •from " Ex Miner," "Sufferer,', "Elector," " Querist," and " An Elector." A deputation waited on the Superintendent on Wednesday, from Kennedy street, in reference to the non-granting of the long promised sections 'to residents there. His Honor 'intimated that the Municipal •Council had power to grant the right of occupation, and that plenty cf sections were available.
News from Boatman's tells of 1700 ozs. from a crushing of 300 tons of stone from the Just-in-Time claim. Shares are commanding a high figure. A three-quarter share in the Fiery Cross, tho next adjoining claim to Just-in-Time, has been sold for £750, and still higher prices are now asked.
A deputation from the Municipal Council and District Board waited on the Superintendent yesterday, to request his favorable consideration to the making of a survey for the projectednew line of road, alonsr the north •bank of the Boiler river. His Honor promised that the matter should immediately have favorable consideration, and that the necessary expenditure of cutting a line through the bush, preliminary to survey, should be authorised.
Electors are reminded that Monday next, the 17th instant, is fixed for the day of nomination, at Westport, for members of the Provincial Council. In the R.M. and Warden's Courts on Tuesday last, tho following business was transacted : —Three charges laid by William Morris against three neighbours for using abusive and threatening language were adjoui-ned until the next sitting of the Court. In the civil action, Levi v. Munson, wherein a claim of £)l 14s Id was made for work done and goods supplied, a set off was filed for £37 5s rent of cottage. The case was adjourned for amendment of plaintiff's bill of particulars, defendant's costs and fee to counsel being allowed. A warrant was issued in the case Mossetic v. Perotti to compel appearance of defendant. In the Warden's Court registration was granted John Landy for dam at Darkie's Terrace, two miles north of Addison's Flat, and to William Riding and four others, for half acre site for stacking tailings at Giles Creek.
A very important coal discovery has been made in the vicinity of Doadman'a C.vk, being no less than a seam of fifteen or eighteen feet, bare on tho surface. Tho discovery is the more important, inasmuch as the locality is only distant about four miles from Wtsstport, and easy of access. Mr J. K. Sloan, of Lyoll, has signified his intention of contesting the election for the Central Ruller, and is going to visit tho various parts of tho district to expound his political opinions, and, to quote his address "place his candidature entirely at the disposal of his brother electors, boasting of no qualification beyond a plain, unvarnished, candid style of expression, combined with sincerity and singleness of purpose"
