MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.
The weekly meeting of the Council was held yesterday, at 4 p.m., at the Court House. Present : the Mayor and Councillors.
Correspondence was read from Messrs Seaton and Munro, making application for right to erect wharfage acconlmoda-i tion, and lease certain municipal reserves ; from Mr John Ward, asking permission to erect cottage on the line of Henley street j from Mr Jules Simon to lease portion of reserves on the north side of Palmerston street; from Mr W. S. Munday objecting to the application of Mr E. Roche for permission to fence in land adjoining his se«tion in Wakefield street, and from Mr H. W. Walters of Greymouth, referring to appointment of Town Clerk and Surveyor.
The resolutions thereon and other details of Council business will appear in the next report. On the motion of Cf, Suisted, seconded by Cr. BlAcklock, decision as to which of these tw Councillors should retire from office on the 11th September next, was decided by lot, and the choice fell on Cr Suisted, The two other retiring Councillors are Messrs Powell and Sheahan.
