BULLER COAL AND RAILWAY COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the Committee was held at the Empire Hotel, on Friday morning last, all members being present.
The following business was transacted : Two letters from Mr O'Conor referring to bis reasons for declining to form one of the proposed deputation to Wellington were received, and it was decided that the letters should be acknowledged and the thanks of the Committee expressed for the intimation contained in one of the letters that he would still assist the Committee.
Mr O'Conor was afterwards m attendance, and a discussion as to the desirability or otherwise of sending the deputation at once to Wellington, resulted in a decision to await the arrival of Dr Hector at Westport, and in the meantime to communicate with his Honor the Superintendent of Nelson, reporting progress, and asking his advice as to the best course of farther action.
A telegram was also forwarded to Dr Hector asking tho favorof an intimation as to the probable- date of his arrival at Westport. The sub-committee appointed to collect subscriptions reported favorß ably, so far as the town and environhad yet been canvassed.
