GRAVES AND FLEMING V. STITT BROTHERS.
(To the Editor of the Westport Times.) Sib, —Your recent report of this case, as heard in the R,. M. Court, while conveying to the public the full facts of the case itself, hardly, in my . opinion, showed in its proper light the * action of one witness for the plain tiff, who deservos the strongest reprobation. I allude to the witness Eohinson, who had the audacity to step into the witness-box and assert that, knowing the case was likely to come
off, and being in the employ of Graves and Fleming, ho had sneaked into my counting-house and examiu ;d my ledger without my leave or knowledge. In the interest of commercial morality and out of respect to their presumed good name, as honorable, faildealing men, G-raves and Fleming ought not to have had the effrontery to allow such a witness to appear. It must be remembered that they did not deny that Eobinson had gone to my store by their consent. Of the man himself I need say nothing, his action should bo sufficient to condemn him in the estimation of any respectable employer. The remarks of the Magistrate in summing up the evidence, to the effect that the testimony of a witness guilty of such a dishonorable act was wholly unreliable, fully justifies me in calling attention to the subject.—Yours &c. Alexander Stitt. [For remainder of news see <ith page.~\
