The Tichburno claimant attended a monster demonstration in London at which he spoke for nearly an hour, aud was loudly cheered. Resolutions were unanimously adopted denouncing the Government action as unconstitutional. The claimant has been since restrained from attending public meetings, in order not to unduly prejudice the case. Heavy floods in Lancashire carried off hundreds of sheep and cattle. Houghton, a Batavian merchant, is in communication with the Government relative to a settlement in the northern territory of Australia. Viscountess Beaconsfield, wife of Mr Disraeli, is dead. The Australian shipments are increasing. The month's exports to Victoria and New South Wales each exceeded £OOO,OOO.
