(FROM OUR OWJT CORRESPONDENTS.) WELLINGTON. Sept. 20. The Financial Statement is promised on Tuesday next, and the Public Works Statement ou Wednesday or Thursday. A Bill is to be introduced to extend miner's rights so as to make thein apply either in Nelson or Westland when once issued. Mr White suggested that the rights should run over the whole Colony, and Mr Curtis promised to consider the suggestion. Mr Collins has given notice to introduce a Bill to provide for the formation of the Nelson Goldfiolds into a County with a definite share of its own revenues. Sept. 23. The Bill for the reduction of the gold duty has passed the House. It has also passed its second reading in the Legislative Council. The Act will come into operation on the Ist Jan. next. The second reading of the Drainage Bill was carried by 37 to 6, on the understanding that the Bill would be withdrawn, the Government promising to prepare a more complete measure for the next session. Mr Collins's bill is also applicable to the formation of the Amuri district as a County. Mr Sheehan's amendment on Mr Macandrew's motion, relative to the allocation of thegoldfields water supply vote amongst the Provinces on the basis of their mining population, under the direction of the local authorities, was, after further debate, negatived by 29 to 23. The Bill to readmit Mr Smythies to practise as a solicitor and barrister, was rejected by '2l to 7. A dejeuner was held on Friday, on board the Nebraska. There were .about 200 present, mostly members of the Assembly. The Hon. D. M'Lean proposed success and prosperity to the Nebraska, her officers, and owners Mr Driver said that there was every chance of getting a subsidy from America and that in lour months the line would be equal to any in the world.
