Sept., 14, 10.50 a.m. On the House meeting yesterday Mr Stafford announced that Mr Curtis had been appointed Commissioner of Stamps and Customs, and, for the present, Telegraph Commissioner and Postmaster-General. Mr Fitzherbert to be Minister of Immigration, and Mr Sewell, Colonial Secretary and to conduct correspondence with the Agent General in Britain. Owing to the late period of the session, Mr Stafford hopes to get through the business in a month, and, to facilitate an early prorogation, will introduce no constitutional bills this session.

.Referring to the Nelson Goldfielda, Mr Stafford said the Government were aware of the existence of discontent, there, but not of any special causes therefor. Mr Curtis hardly shared his colleagues opinion as to the sound nature of the causes for discontent, but the Government would fully consider and investigate the matter with a view to devise some means of improving the administration of affairs, and to render the existing form of government more acceptable to the people. He did not believe that the creation of a new province would conduce to the good government of fiat part of the colony. NELSON. The latest on dit is that Mr Sharp will probably be a candidate for the Superintendeucy. Sept. 11. Mr Luckie is a candidato for the Superintendeney.
