REEFTON.

A numerously attended meeting was held at Reeftonj on Saturday last. Mr Pitt in the chair. Upon a resolution proposed by Mr W. M'Lean, seconded by Mr Ivess. After some discussion it was determined " that it was desirable to form a local committee at Reefton." Afterwards a resolution was brought forward by Mr Davis, seconded by Mr Crampton, upon which a committee consisting of 18 of the principal business people of Reefton were appointed as the first Reefton Progress Committee. Mr Donovan enlivened the proceedings by one of his clever and characterestic speeches, it being as usual received with enthusiasm.

Broadway is commencing to assume a thoroughly business aspect. A large hotel is being rapidly proceeded with for Mr Slattery, and a few doors higher up a drapery establishment, to be occupied by Messrs Cullen Brothers. Our Brighton friends will be pleased to learn that an old favorite in that district, Mr P. Kelly, ia about to commence business immediately, opposite to the above establishments; and lower down very commodious premises are iu course of erection for Messrs Stitt Bros., Mr T. Field, and Messrs Graves and Fleming.—" Herald."
