THE CASE OF GEORGE LOWE.
Amid the general gloom and despondency occasioned by the late disastrous floods, the severe and dangerous accident', by which George Lowe is now suffering has cast all other losses into the .shade. Property may be regained, but who can supply the loss of the head of a youug and helpless family ? All then must be done that caQ be done to soothe the sorrowing wife and mother, to ameliorate—as far as money can ameliorate—the condition of a mother of a young family in this her dire distress—deprived u.t present of the bread-getter of the family, who are now penniless and helpless, and entirely dependent upon the benevolent assistance of those who may extend to them a helping bund. Several gentlemen have undertaken to organise the means by which sucb a call can be most efficiently made and carried out. The experience of the past in similar circumstances leaves not a doubt as to the result; and another pioof will be given of the liberal and sympathetic generosity which has always characterised the inhabitants of this town and district.
