The last dray load of machinery for Mace, Trenery, and Company, Reefton, was landed at Kirby's store on Sunday night. It had been reported that tho original shareholders had threatened to refuse delivery of the engine on the ground of nonfulfilment of agreement, it having been contracted for the machinery to be on the ground on October 19th. Owing to the continued floods and bad weather, the few days' delay has been unadvoidable, and it is a matter for congratulation that the transport of such ponderous machinery has been so quickly and successfully accomplished. We understand that the party, having regard to these exceptional circumstances, and the fact of no unnecessary delay having been incurred, have decided to accept delivery of the machinery. Negotiations are, we believe, pending with parties in Westport for placing a crushing plant on the Anderson's Creek Quartz Mining Company's claim, Reefton. A parcel of 110 ozs of gold was brought down from the Inangahua on Monday last. The gold has been obtained from shallow alluvial workings in that district.
