RESIDENT MAGISTRATE COURT.
Wednesoay, October. 11. (Before J. Giles, Esq., R.M.) LUNACX. The information of Sergeant Kiely set forth that Michael Keating was of unsound mind and unfit to be at large. The informant stated that he went to the Emerald Isle Hotel, and saw Keating there. His conduct was singular ; he mistook one person for another, and made incoherent statements. After being arrested he got worse. Witness arrested him a month previous for the same cause. John Quinlan and John Maher gave evidence of the singularity of Keating's behaviour. The evidence of S. Thorpe and P. J. Bruen, medical officers, showed that Keating was of unsound mind, whereupon he was committed to the Nelson Lunatic Asylum.
