The Friendly Natives and Mair arrived on Monday, and were welcomed by 1500 natives, who appeared to be exceedingly friendly. Tawhiaio, Manuhiri, and other notables mingled freely with the assembled natives. Yesterday was devoted to amusements, war dances, &c. Bewi has appointed to-day for business. The Kawhoa and other tribes are hourly expected. Kaku, Todd's murderer, and his followers assaulted the Priendlies on their way down. The former were turned away from here by Whitiora, and Manuhiri will not recognise them in future. Auckland, Sep. 19. Bray, a shareholder, has absconded to Hobart Town, leaving defalcations amounting to £9OO. The Catholics are petitioning largely against clauses 52, 55, and 56 of the Education Bill. The same body have resolved to build a new cathedral. Captain Williams and Mr Robinson have been accidentally drowned. An influential Agricultural League is formed. The Caledonian Co., have dec'areda devldend of £4 ; Thames, 10s. A large meeting has adopted a petition to the Assembly in favor of a Permissive Bill. Fijis news reports the murder of Captain Bradley, of the schooner Swallow, by natives, and the murder of several of the crew. Taranakt, Sept. 22. A native meeting, held at Pariaka, has decided to allow the construction of roads and telegraph.
