At tho extraordinary meeting of shareholders of the Buller Towing Track Company hdd yesterday evening, it was decided to extend the memorandum of association, n order to include the woiking of tho coal on the Buller river.

A claim of £665 has been made by the owners of the s.s. Murray against Messrs N. Edwards and Co., of Nelson, for damages caused by the collision of the p.s. Charles Edward with the above vessel on the Buller bar, Westport. The barque Kate Conley sailed for Newcastle, in tow of the p.s. Dispatch, on Tuesday. Two passengers only availed themselves of her departure to proceed to the Gulgong diggings, New South Wales. The p.s. Dispatch went on to Greymouth.

The steamer Charles Edward arrived at Westport yesterday morning, and crossed the bar at 2.30 p.m. She brings the San Francisco and Suez mails.

The Bteamcr Wallabi, from Wanganui arrived off the bar yesterday evening at ten minutes to six. She was too late to catch the tide, but crossed the bar at four o'clock this morning.

The sale of the Hibernian Hotel, formerly in the occupation of Mr Corcoran, took place a few days a*o, the purchaser being Mr Atkinson, for the sum of £IOO. It was bought subject to removal, and the materials are to be used in the construction of a hotel at the Orawaiti. replacing the structure burnt down a few weeks back, and a dwelling-house in Bright-street. The Hibernian Hotel cost upwards of J2600 ; but, owing to the encroachments of the river on the nortli bank, had been rendered utterly valueloss, except as second-hand building material.

The Petitions Committee have decided that Tomlinson in voting for Sir David Monro did not knowlingly personate his cousin. Referring to the subject the " Evening Post" says : —" Whichever way it turns the result is likely to be disastrous to the present member, and there is too much-reason to fear that Sir David Monro will be unseated."
