MEETING AT ADDISON'S.
Our usually well-informed Addison's correspondent having failed to furnish us with the following interesting particulars of a public meeting held in that locality, we clip the same from the " Charleston Herald " :
A public meeting was held at Addison's on Saturday evening last, to consider the conduct ot Mr E. J. O'Conor, the representative of the district, in not attending the House of Eepresentatives now in session.
Mr T. Gallagher was voted to the chair, who, in stating the business of the evening, made an effective speech very deprecatory of M'Conor's conduct.
It was then moved by Mr Malony, " That this meeting is of opinion that Mr E. J. O'Conor should be in his place, in the House, now in session, and if be does not proceed at once to
take his place that he be requested to resign his seat." This resolution was seconded by Mr M. Carmody, and supported by Mr E. Lusb, who considered that Mr O'Conor's position was very anomalous. He did not agree on many political points with the representative, and considered that, perhaps, his seat was as well empty, yet contended for the principle that when a gentleman took a public office he should either attend to it or resign. It was then resolved that the foregoing resolution be copied and signed by the Chairman of this meeting, and forwarded to Mr O'Conor for his information.
Mr M. Carmody moved, and Mr M'Enroe "seconded, a resolution com-' plaining of Mr O'Conor's conduct in not visiting Addison's since his election. The mover Considered that Mr O'Conor had shown a great want of courtesy to the electors of Addison's in not visiting them, and that his conduct in absenting himself from the House at so important a time was highly reprehensible.
A vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the proceedings.
