Superintendent's Office, Nelson, July 13, 1871. URSUANT to the Provisions of " The Education Act, 1863," the Superintendent directs it to be notified that the Annual RATE imposed by the said Act upon all Householders residing within the Educational Districts, will be LEVIED on TUESDAY, the Ist day of August; and that the same will be received between the hours of Ten a.m. and Four p.m., namely— Court-house, Nelson, by Alfred , Hibble School-house, Clifton Terrace, Suburban No#b, by Alexander Wragg School-house, Stoke, by E. Dresswell Agricultural Hall, Waimea East, by William Steer School-house, Waimea West, by George Walker School-house, Eiwaka, by E. P. Pattie House of G. Taylor, Takaka, by G. Taylor, ■police Station, Collingwood, by John Fisher Court-house, Cobden, by S. G. Rowley Court-house, Westport, by the Sergeant of Police. W. A. Kiely School-house, Motupiko, by George Flower School-house, Dovedale, by Job Best The aforesaid Act requires that " every Householdor in each Educational District shall pay annually Twenty Shillings, and a further sum of Five Shillings for every child of such Householder between the ages of five and fourteen yeare: Provided always, that no person shail be liable to pay for moro than four children, nor for any child residing more than three miles from afiy 'school established under this Act; nor for any child .attending any school not established under this Act, in respect of whom such persona shall produce to the Collector a certificate signed by the teacher of such Bchool, showing that such child has'attended during the three months previous to the levyine of the rate."
