CHARLESTON.

(FttOM OUE OWN COBRESPOKDENT.) The funeral of Edwin Goodall who was killed at Mount Pleasant on Wednesday last took place on Friday. The procession formed at 3 p.m. at Mrs Webber's Post Office Hotel, where the body had been tying. Deceased having been a member of the Oddfellows' Society the members of that order to the number of about seventy with their regalia draped in mourning, marched immediately before and after the coffin. At the grave the burial service was read by the Rev. Mr White, after which Bro. Collings, the Provincial Grand Master of the Oddfellows, read the funeral.address of the Order. The funeral was largely attended, as nearly all the men in the district ceased work in order to be present at the ceremony. A committee has been formed for the purpose of raising a fund in aid of the wife of the deceased who has been left almost entirely unprovided for. A large amount has already been collected, as few indeed could refuse to subscribe to so truly charitable an object At the Resident Magistrate's Court, Charleston on Friday last John Henderson was charged with assaulting Ellen Kenny, and sentenced to one month's imprisonment and bound over to keep the peace; himself in £2O and two sureties of £2O each. Eellnn Kenny was then charged with being drunk and incapable, and fined twenty shillings.
