INANGAHUA.

IMPORTANT DISCOVERY. ANOTHER PROSPECTING QUARTZ CLAIM APPLIED FOR. A prospecting claim was applied for on Thursday at Reef ton by the undermentioned miners.—Adam Smith, James Stephenson, John Scott, Thomas Watson, and Robert Galline. The ground is situated between Murray Creek and Lankey's Creek. The stone from the new reef, shown in Reefton, is excellent. Dr. Giles, who was at Reefton, was compelled, owing to the excessively wet weather, to allow the application to stand over until next sitting of the Court—the river being too high to allow of any person travelling beyond Reefton. Claims to an indefinite number have been taken up, both north and south of the prospectors. The reef is to be known as Adam Smith's lino. The quartz resombles that of Kelly's reef.
