RESIDENT MAGISTRATE COURT.
Westport, Friday, April 28. (Before J. Giles, Esq., R.M.) Sheldon v. Theresa liodering.— Claim for £2 18s for Ihe erection of a chimney in a cottage on the Esplanade. Defendant denied liability. John Sheldon stated that defendant in company with a man came to his shop and ordered the chimney to be put in the house, and afterwards refused payment. _ Defendant denied having given any or derto Mr Sheldon fora chimney, stating that the house in question belonged to a person by the name of Antonio, who had left the keys of the house in her care when leaving Weatport to go up the river. Sheldon had called for the keys, and she had given them to him on several occasions. Plaintiff requested a postponement to allow him to bring forward a witness in support of his evidence. His Worship said that he could not grant a postponment, as the plaintiff .should have provided himself with witnesses before the ease came on for hearing, but that he would enter a nonsuit. Nonsuited accordingly.
