They were committed to their final resting-place at tho cemetery yesterday, afternoon with military honours. The entire militia and volunteer companies turned out. The places of business were closed during the afteruoou. The ceremony began at 1 p.m., and lasted until nightfall. A magnificent meteor was visible at ten o'clock last night. Nelson, April 28. The schooner Twilight, trading to Kaipara, has been lost during the recent gale. Captain Micklejohn and two seamen were washed overboard. The captain was saved. George Webster, of Hokianga, well known in Auckland commercial circles, died suddenly of apoplexy. Arrangements are making for a grand reception to the officers of the Nevada. The Governor is expected to be present. The Caledouian Company, Thames, lodged 12690z of gold during the week ended April 25th. Twenty-five cwt. of specimens were then raised ready for crushing. Bailey, formerly stock broker in Melbourne, and at one time representative for Castlemaine, has been murdered by his partner, Henrj Scott. The steamer Taranaki, from Auckland, hrought the news that Eopata had fallen in with Te Kooti; killing 25 of his followers, besides taking a number of prisoners. The news requires confirmation. The Uriwera followers of Te Kooti have [abandoned him, and the women have also left him. Eopata is stated to have returned with thirty prisoners. -Dunedin, April 28. Fiji advices furnish further particulars of the mnftler of Mr Bailie. The occurrence took place on the morning of March 31st. The murder was committed with a tomahawk, and Scott, the deceased's partner, got away with a large amount of property. The Graving Dock was pumped out yesterday. An upheaval of the masonry was discovered, the alleged cause being an earthquake. Two days will be necessary to repair the damage which is not serious. Wheat, 4s 9d ; oats, 2s 4d to 2s 6d; flour, £l3 to £l3 10s ; potatoes, £3; hay, £4. The North Star har arrived with 240 Chinese. Bird's match excites great interest. The betting is against him.
