LATEST TELEGRAMS.

(per greyille's telegram company, reuter's AGEXT.s). Greymouth, April 18. The Governor was enthusiasticallv received hereto-day. A procession was formed, consisting of Volunteers, Members of the Fire Brigade and I Friendly Societies, mounted citizens and school children. There were addresses by the Borough Council and Friendly Societies, and a Royal salute was fired. The Governor made a humorous speech from the balcony of Johnston's •Hotel. A levee has been held. There will be a concert to-night, and a ball to-morrow. Nelson, April 19. The " Nelson Examiner" published its last number to-day as a daily, and will henceforth appear as a weekly. A person being asked what was meant by the "realities of life," answered, "Real estate, real money, and a real good dinner, none of which could be realised without real hard work."

New York has four colleges for •women —the Ingham University, Elmira College, Vassar and Rutgers Colleges. The latter has no endowment. The funds of the other three amount to a little less than 100,000 dols; their buildings and apparatus to a little less than 1,000,000 dols. More than onehalf of this is credited to Vissar College. Thus the State has more than 10,000,000 for the education of men, and less than 1,000,000 for the education of women.
