The following is a return of the revenue ■collected at the Custom House, "Westport, for the month ended March 31, 1871:

As compared with the December quarter, there is a decrease of £4219 10s lid, or very nearly 50 per cent. The gold duty for the last quarter shows a falling off of .£2194 10s 1 Id, or nearly 85 per cent., and the Customs' duties £2220 4s or about 30 per cent. These •figures will at once show to what extent the district hes suffered from the drought, which tominenced shortly before Christmas and continued until the middle of March.
