ODDFELLOWS' MEETING.
NORTH WESTLAND DISTRICT. The half-yearly meeting of the North-Westland District of the M.IT. 1.0.0. F. took place on Tuesday last, at the Oddfellows' Hall, Priuces-street, Charleston. The following officers and deputies were present:—' Provincial Grand Master Collings. Corresponding Secretary Henderson. Relieving Officer Moore. P.O. Bishop and N.Gr. Hughes represented the Westport Lodge, and P.G-. Eallam and Bro. Nicholson the Charleston Lodge. The resignations of the late Deputy Grand Master Jordan, Relieviug Officer Moore, Corresponding Secretary Henderson, and District Trustee Notman were received. An election then took place to fill the vacant offices till the next annual meeting, with the following result. : Deputy Grand Master—James Henderson. Corresponding Secretary John Moore. Relieving Officer—"Wm. Struthers. District Trustee—John Hughes. After an amount of general business had been gone through, nominations were taken for District Officers for the ensuing year, as follows: Ifor Provincial Grand Master— Bros. Past-Grands Henderson, Eallam, Moore, Edwards, Brown and Struthers. The same officers were nominated for the efficor of Deputy Grand Master.
For Corresponding Secretary —• Bros. Past-Grands Edwards, Brown, and Struthers. The meeting was then adjourned till September next to Westport. The same evening about forty of the brethren, including the delegates from Westport, met at a baLquot held at Weitzel's European Hotel. It need only be said that the banquet was excellent, and in every way Worthy of the high reputation of the caterer. Bro. N. G. Macklin acted as Chair, man, and Y.G. Murdoch as Vice. After the cloth had been removed, The Chairman gave the toast of the " Queen and Eoyal Family ;" which was followed by " Our Sister Lodges," to which Bro. N.G. Hughes, of the Westport Lodge, responded. Song—Bro. G.M. Mordaunt. Bro. G.M. Mordaunt next gave the toast of the " Manchester Unity," which was responded to by P.O. Moore. Song—Bro. King. Bro. V.G. Murdoch gave "Our District Ofiieers," to which Provincial Grand Master Collings responded. Song—Bro. Aldou. Bro. P.G. Ballam proposed "The Widows and Orphans" (which was drunk with silent honors), and responded to by P.G. Moore. Song—P.G. Bishop. The toasts, " The Mining and Commercial Interest," " The Press," " The Ladies," and " Our Host," were also given and duly responded to, after which the meeting broke up at about one o'clock, spending a very enjoyable evening.
