Kennedy was telegraphed as having left Nelson for Westport on Thursday morning. She was consequently d-e here yester<l iy, but has, doubtless, remained in Blind B.iy to shelter from the tremendous sea und strong head wind. According to our Hokitika telegram the p.B. Ohailes Edward would not leave Hokitika until this morning's tide. She may arrive in Westport therefore this evening. Fortunately both our Charleston traders' the Three Friends and the Standard, have been sate in port during the '.ast rough weather. Had they been in Charleston, it is doubtful whether the shelter afforded would have enabled them to escape serious injury. We are informed that the W. S Munday hid arrived in Charleston from Lyttelton, discharged cargo, and proceeded to sea befoie the rough weather set in. Tho ship Timaru has left Auckland, for London, with c cargo of New Zealand produce, valued at JE31,000. A fire broke out at Hobart Town on board the barque Kunnymede, on the 14th January, hut through the exertions of the two fire brigades and the lire brigade of 11.M.5. Blanche, it was got under about 9 p.m. Several bales of wool were partly burned at the ends. The cutter Shamrock, valued at ,£3OO, and which "as uninsured, has been wrecked at VYhangapona, Aucklmd. The ship Asteropo has left Napier, for London, with a cargo of wool, valued at ±•35,000. Fiji advices report the total wreck of the Dashing Wave on Wake Island. The crew escaped to the Caroline Group, and were rescued by the schooner Oriti, after suffering dreadfully for thirty-eight days. The s.s. Queen of the Thames arrived at Melbourne, fro.n London, on the loth Jan. i ho had a tine passage of fifty-four days, calling at St Helena and King George's Sound for coal. Tho ship Charlotte Gladstone, from London, has arrived at Lyttelton, with 180 pas-s.-tigers. Hans Neilson, a sailor belonging to the schooner Merlin, has been found drowned at Auckland. The ship Christian M'Ausland, 902 tons, from Glasgow, arrived at Port Chalmers on January 23rd, with about 140 passengers.
