Owing to pressure on our space we are compelled to hold over the report of Mr Donne's meeting at Addison's until our next issue. The meeting was largly attended, and Mr Donne was favorably received, Mr T, Gallagher acting as chairman. After an effective address, which -was frequently applauded, Mr O'Conor came forward and harangued the meeting. At the close of his remarks, a Mr Connell who had been prompted by Mr O'Conor, to address a number of questions to Mr Donne, proposed a vote of want of confidence in the latter gentleman, which, however, failed to obtain a seconder, and the meeting dispersed. At the Masonic Hall, last evening, Mr Yardley, who kas been nominated for election as a member of the General Assembly, addressed a large meeting of persons who appeared to find in "the exercise of the franchise a subject of more entertainment than serious interest. Mr Donne proceeded to Charleston, by coach, yesterday morning, for the purpose of addressing the electors of that district. The meeting was to take place at the Casino de Venise, yesterday evening. Mr O'Conor loft at the same time for Charleston in pursuance of the programme notified by him at the nomination, of attending every meeting held by Mr Donne, with the presumed object of obstructing any vote of confidence brought forward by Mr Donne's supporters. In consequence of the bad state of the ford at the Totara river, the panorama of the Pacific mail route did not arrive in town in time to be exhibited last evening. It will be on viow at the Masonic Hall to-night and to-morrow evening. Mr Seed, Inspector of Customs, arrived by the Charles Edward, on Sunday, on a tour of inspection to the various ports of the West Coast. Ho proceeded by the same steamer to Hokitika and Greymouth yesterday evening. The net income derived from the Canterbury railways was stated by Mr Eolleston, in a recent speech, to bo £15,000 a year. A popular address has been presented to the Grand Duke of Luxemburg, begging him to save the country, and never "allow its transfer to any power, without a free vote of the Chamber.
