(FROM OTJB OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Dunedln, Nov. 18. Mr Maeassey, solicitor, is announced as a candidate for the General Assembly. Mr Macandrew, the present Superintendent, is announced for the Clutha district, but is to be opposed by Mr J. W\ Thomson. Christchtjrch, Nov. 18. A difficulty has occurred here between the Superintendent and the Executive regarding the claim for interest by the Bank of New Zealand. Tho Superintendent gave in, but has since been condemned by the Council. Wellington, Nov. 18. The "Post" states that the Press Association intend prosecuting the telegraph operator at the Bluff for tampering with the English mail telegrams. Auckland (via Napier), Nov. 15. Magnificent yields of gold have come in from the Coromandel reefs. It is reported that alluvial gold has been found in Tararu Creek.
The amalgamated companies' first steamer from San Francisco leaves on the 10th December, and is expected to make the trip in three weeks.
