NOTICE. rgIHE Natives resident in this dis- -*- trict, having expressed a desire that the provisions of the existing law for limiting the use of intoxicating liquors amongst the Native inhabitants of New Zealand, should be put in force in Westport and its neighbourhood, the attention of all whom it may concern is called to the following provisions of "The Sale of Spirits Ordinance, 1847." Section I enacts—" That it shall not be lawful for any person whomsoever, either to sell or to supply, or to give any spirituous liquor or mixed liquor, part whereof is spirituous, in any quantity whatever, to any person of the Native Race." Section II—" It shall not be lawful for any person whomsoever, either to sell or to supply, or to give any wine or any fermented liquor, or mixed liquor, part whereof is fermented, in any quantity respectively, which shall produce intoxication, to any person of the Native Eace." And by section 111, a penalty not exceeding £lO is imposed for the violation of the above enactments. By order, FRANCIS HAEEIS, Clerk to the Bench. "Westport, June 2nd, 1870. NOTICE.
