THREATENED DISTURBANCE AT WANGAPEKA.

(From the Colonist.) News has arrived from Wangapeka, whither Mr Warden Broad proceeded a few days ago, for the purpose of seeing the survey of the sold land carried out. Mr Broad, we are mformed, reports that he had a meeting with the miners, told them his purpose, and, it is stated, satisfied them that the sold land is without the boundary of the South- West.G-oldfields. The miners, however, stated their determination to oppose the survey at all hazards, and that they were prepared to offer resistance, intimating that the first man who crossed the bridge would be shot; and frequent displays of firearms and harmless shots from the same are said to have been made as indicative of the carrying out of this resolution. Mr Broad repeated his statement that he had a duty to perform, and he meant to perform it, and would proceed with his work on Monday (6th inst.) Meanwhile, he sent dowD for additional assistance, and three more constables went up on Sunday. It is probable that the state of the weather, which has apparently set in for some days' rain, may interfere with Mr Broad's intentions. It is said that there are 116 men on the ground who oppose the survey, and we observe it stated last night that if the opposition is persisted in the survey will not be made. That it will be persisted in seems probable, fop we learn from a correspondent that there is strong excitement on the ground, that things are in a very uncertain state, and he fears "it may come to powder and shot." Such is the state of affairs by latest report.
