THE OLD RACECOURSE.
(To the Editor of the Westport Times.) Sib,--We, the undersigned, are desirous, through the medium of your valuable paj>er, of denying a report damaging to us as business men, and utterly untrue. The report in circulation is that we, the proprietors of paddocks where the sports and races were held last year, refused the Jockey Club, when asked for the use of the enclosed ground required for holding a race meeting and other public sports this year, unless the sum of fifty pounds were paid from the public funds to us. Now, sir, we hereby publicly declare that we were not consulted in any way by any person or persons on behalf of the public, and, further, that we have offered, and do still offer the free use of all or any portion of our enclosed paddocks for the use of the public from Christmas to New Tear's Day, both inclusive, on condition that any fencing removed be replaced, or that we be allowed .£s.—We remain yours, &c, J. H. Gibson. Suisted Bros.
