At no season could the introduction of the shirt question for discussion be more opportune than when, according to the good custom of their ancestors, men desire to procure for themselves the Annual Christmas Outfit, and, while Whxte and Pibie can endorse heartily the statement of the philosopher about Shirts, they can also without fear of contradiction affirm that he who wants a Shirt can buy at WESTPORT HOUSE what will be found to be a Shirt in every sense of the word. If Mr Carlyle would favor Whxte and Pibie with a call, ocular demonstration would be given that the Shirt trade, as carried on by them, is not thus demoralised, and that such a statement could not apply in any case to their Shirt transactions.
