THE REV. MR. HARVEY'S DEPARTURE.
The members of the Church of England Vestry met yesterday. There were present the Rev. Mr Harvey, Messrs Winstanley, Bullen, Harris, and Whitefoord. Mr Harris moved, and Mr Bullen seconded, that an application be made to Mr Lee for a copy of the Diocesan Synod Regulations, and that the Bishop appoint a returning officer. The following resolution was entered on the minutes expressing the regret felt by the Vestry on the termination of Mr Harvey's ministry at Westport:— "That this Vestry desire to take this opportunity of expressing its sincere regret at the termination of the connection between the church at Westport and the first clergyman who has acted as its minister—the Rev. B ; W. Harvey—who was appointed minister at Westport two years ago, and who during that time has zealously labored amougst the members of his and has by the most strenuous and persevering efforts succeeded in getting the present church erected, a structure which the Vestry regard not only as an ornament to the town, but still more as a monument of the energy and earnestness of the minister they are about to lose. " The Vestry feel satisfied that they are expressing not only their own sentiments but those of the congregation te whom Mr Harvey has endeared
himself by his two years of pastoral labor, when they thus record their regret at his leaving Westport and their earnest wishes for his future happiness and prosperity."
