COMMERCIAL.

"Westpoet Times Office, Friday Evening. We have to report a very dull week in business, the wet weather preventing the transit of goods to the interior, and storekeepers complain of a considerable falling-off in the consumption—more especially in the Addison's Flat and Charleston districts. There is little alteration to note in prices. Breadstuff's are only operated in for daily requirements. For Hart's Adelaide flour we quote £22 ; iutcrprovincial, from £l9 to .£2O. Oats are firm at 6s 6d, with an upward tendency, and as stocks are light holders show no disposition to quit in quantities even at that figure. Bran is scarce at present, but we cannot report an advance—2s being still the ruling price. Potatoes are in full supply, and selling at prices which leave a loss to the importers. We quote Nelson at from £4 10s to £ss, and Taieri at £6 10s. Butter—This article has only been coming to hand in small lots lately, scarcely sufficient to supply the demand. A small lot, ex Beautiful Star, fetched Is -id at auction. For prime sample;- Is 5d is obtainable at present, but as the new season's will be coming to hand more plentiful by soon prices must recede. Candles —Recent advices from Melbourne report an advance in this article, but holders here have not yet taken advantage of the rise. We quote Is Id for Novas, and Is for other brands in trade parcels. Sugars are a little easier, but as stocks are light and supplies from Melbourne coming less frequent to hand we do not anticipate any iurther reduction for some time. For Company's 2nd white we quote £56 ; Mauritius crystals in small mats, 48s to 50s. For oilmen's stores generally the demand is very limited, and no alteration to note in prices.
