CHARLESTON.
fFEOM 01 T B OWN COBRESPONDENT.) Oct. 6. Yesterday, in the R.M. Court, before C. Broad, Esq., Gretta O'Regan and Mary Anne Hayes, on remand, were brought up charged with having on Thursday night last stolen from Richard Rochford the sum of £l6O in bank-notes, whilst he was in a house on the Darkie's Terrace road. After a lengthy examination of several witnesses, his Worship committed them to take their trial at the next sitting of the District Court. The funeral of the two unfortunate men who lost their lives by the wreck of the cutter Harry Bluff, took place yesterday afternoon, and was well attended by the residents of the town, and the crews of the vessels in harbor. During the day the vessels in harbor had their colors half-mast high. The schooner Mavis had a narrow escape on going out of harbor this morning. She drifted broadside on to the rocks, but by the exertions of Captain Beveridge and people under his directions, by great alacrity on the part of her crew in obeying his orders, and by the assistance of both surf boats, she was extricated from her perilous position, without apparently having sustained th a sliglitestdamage.
