LATEST INTERPROVINCIAL TELEGRAMS.
The following items of telegraphic intelligence appear in our Nelson or Hokitika contemporaries : "Wellington, Aug. 25. Mr Curtis to-day moved that Mr Eox's letter to Major Brown was a breach of privilege.' A long and very warm debate ensued, when the Government declared that they accepted the motion as a party one, and made it a Government question. The motion was negatived by 29 to 27. August 26. The contingent vote, £50,000. asked for by the Ministry for defence purposes, was passed to-day, as also £30,000 for road making. The Governor to-day sent down a message, recommending a vote of £3OOO to Mr Eitzherbert for services rendered in the conversion and consolidation of Provincial and Colonial loans. The sum of .£l5O was also voted for the purchase of a boat for the Otago Naval Volunteers.
August 29. An advance of £15,000 to Wellington, for the construction of the Wanganui Bridge, has been agreed to on the security of the tolls. The advance is to be repaid within seven years.
Monday, Aug. 30. The Session will terminate, and Parliament be prorogued, either on Wednesday or Thursday.
All the Ministerial measures have been carried successfully hitherto. The House sits each day, latterly from two p.m. till two a.m. Ministers have promised that in all probability they will be able to give the names of the two Commissioners to be sent to England, before the members separate.
Picton, August 26. The funnel of the steamer Taranaki is now out of water at low tide.
A slight shock of earthquake was felt at Picton, at 7.20 this morning.
