THE COROMANDEL DIGGINGS.

The following is the only news yet received as to the new rush to Coromandel. It appears in the Thames Advertiser of the 2nd inst:—A gentleman who returned from Coromandel last night has furnished us with the following particulars concerning the rush in that quarter:—The leader struck in M'Leod's claim is about six inches in width, and is very rich, gold being visible in almost every piece of stone knocked out. The drive in which the leader has been struck is about sixty feet in. When our informant left there were about 200 men on the ground, and about sixty more have, to our own knowledge, since left for the ground. So conh'dent were some of those at Coromandel that better days were in store for the locality, that already some speculation in frontages had taken place. The following figures show some of the weekly returns of gold obtained from that wonderful claim at the Thames —the Long Drive Claim. There is every reason to believe that the regular return will but little fall off from that which has been obtained during the last four weeks : June 30 1471 ozs.
