ADDISON'S FLAT.
(To the Editor of the Westport Times.) Sie, —In a late issue of your paper you stated that some large parcels of gold were bought by the Banks lately from the Shamrock Lead and Giles Terrace, leaving out this flat as a thing of the past. As an old resident here, and a miner, I wish to say that never, since the great " flood-out " of 1867, was the flat in so flourishing a condition, and I venture to state that there is twice the quantity of gold got in it that there is on the Shamrock Lead. No doubt, there are one or two good claims there, but the other four or five claims are no more than wages claims, while we have here about ten or twelve very good claims, and half that number good wages ones. It would be well if the attention of the Groverument could be called to the deplorable condition of the road between these two diggings. Our worthy representative is said to have said, in his place in the Assembly, that a bird could scarcely fly across some of the roads. One thing is certain, that if they attempt to walk over some parts of this road they will be booted with mud, and we think that the amount of revenue obtained from here is sufficient to give us a road in much better order than it is in at present. Trusting that I am not imposing on your space,—l am, Sir, respectfully yours, July 12. Addisonian.
