VOLUNTEER EIRE BRIGADE.
{To the Editor of the Went port Times.) Sir, —I was glad to see that in your issue of Saturday last you very forcibly drew the attention of the inhabitants of Westport to the urgent necessity for the formation of a Volunteer Fire Brigade, and I agree with you that no time could be more fitting than the present to initiate the same. The Provincial Council having voted one hundred pounds towards the purchase of a fire engine, I think the balance would soon bo subscribed by the inhabitants, for this is a matter that directly concerns every house-holder in the town. I hope to see this matter taken up with some spirit by our business people. Let a public meeting be called, a good committee appointed, and a "Westport Volunteer Fire Brigade will soon be an established fact.—l am, Sir, yours &c.,
