RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
Saturday, September 18., 1868. (Before J. Giles Esq., R.M.) VIOLENT ASSAULT AT ADDISON"'s FLAT. Michael Cullen and George Black were charged with having, at Addison's Flat on the 17th, unlawfully assaulted and beaten Henry Chnstenson. Before the case was gone into, the defendants applied for a postponement as their witnesses had not arrived. Inspector Franklyn asked the magistrate if any application for bail was made, that it should be fixed at a high rate, for he believed he had a very clear ca*e against the defendants. He enquired if it would be fixed at that time. The Magistrate said that he would not allow any bail than what was very satisfactory. It might be possible that he would not take bail but he would consider the question when an application was made. He then reminded the case till Monday (this day). This concluded the business of the Court. v
