Early on Monday last Messrs Stitt and "Williamson undertook the arduous task of canvassing the town for subscriptions in aid of sports in celebration of Her Majesty's Birthday, and considering all things the call was most liberally responded to. The result shows that Mokihinui is not quite played out yet, a purse of £l2 being collected in about half an hour. Business being the order of the day, the bellman called a meeting at the Union Hotel, when a committee consisting of Messrs Stitt.
